To get a license there are two ways.
One is to go to the driver`s license office to take a skill examination and subject examination.
Second is to enter a driver`s school and pass a graduation examination in exchange for skill examination. A lot of people choose the second way, so the first way is called "Diving examination" . We recomend you the second way to get a license.
If you are going to enter the driving school and getting a license, first you get a temporary license, then get a training on the street and subject training. After you pass the graduation examination, you apply the examination at the driving School where you have your resident registration.
In case you already have a driver`s license, you can renew your driver's license to Japanese license in the first way. To renew your license you need a passport and a Alien Registration and prepare a translated driver's license on the spot at JAF.
